Vertical Shaft Impact Crushers
Vertical Shaft Impact (VSI) crushers are best used for tertiary, quaternary crushing or primary grinding. The VSI consists of a vertical rotating shaft to which a special horizontal rotor/impeller is attached. The shaft is placed inside a circular chamber which contains a special crushing chamber ring, which is either rock lined or contains thin anvils. The material is fed into the top of the chamber with the primary amount of the feed entering the top of the rotor/impeller. The rotor throws the material centrifugally outwards towards the crushing chambers at extremely high speed. A secondary amount of material feed falls into the accelerated primary feed at the crushing chamber. Thus all the material is reduced in a highly turbulent material cloud contained within the crushing chamber. Reduction occurs by impact, attrition and abrasion.
VSI's offer a final product that is well suited for the crushing of ores, rocks, minerals and can provide a superior cubical product and quality sand for the aggregrate industry. Graduation control, high product yield with low horsepower and low wear costs are some features of the vertical shaft impacter.
